As with many of these directories, the map is missing. When we obtained the copy used for scanning we also found that it had lost pages 28-34. These pages contained mainly advertisements and notes on the town but do include the first two pages of the General (Alphabetical) Directory the scanned copy of which, thus, starts with Aitchison, John. The remainder of the directory (482 scanned images in total) is complete and comprises: General (Alphabetical) Directory; Kilmarnock Rural Directory; Street Directory; Business Directory; District Directory; General Rural Directory; Gentlemen's Residences; Public Offices, Clubs, Institutions &c; Advertisements throughout. Some of the scanned pages appear not to be straight. This is a feature of the original book rather than the scanning process.
