The area covered by the directory includes Arkley, Barnet Vale, East Barnet, Friern Barnet, Little Heath, Mill Hill, Monken Hadley, New Barnet, Oakleigh Park, Potters Bar, South Mimms, Southgate & New Southgate, Totteridge and Whetstone. The directory comprises: Barnet topography; Public officers & offices; Churches, chapels, institutions &c; Street directory; Private residents (alphabetical list of); Commercial directory; Villages directory; Professional & trades directory; The original district map.
When we obtained the directory, the county map had suffered significant creasing and damage at some folds. The map is also slightly too large to scan in a single piece on an A3 scanner. It has, therefore, been scanned as two overlapping tiles which have then been stitched together (though a little imprefectly because of the creasing). Both scans plus the stitched version of the map have been included on the download.
Some of the scanned pages appear not to be straight. This is a feature of the original book rather than the scanning process.
