The area covered by the directory is roughly from South Mymms and Potters Bar on the north to Totteridge Green and Whetstone on the south and from Barnet Common on the west to Cockfosters and Trent on the east. In addition to Barnet, it includes Arkley, Barnet Vale, East Barnet, Little Heath, Monken Hadley, New Barnet, New Southgate, Oakleigh Park, Potters Bar, Totteridge and Whetstone.

The directory comprises: Barnet Topography; Public Officers & Offices; Churches, Chapels, Institutions &c; Street Directory; Private Residents; Commercial Directory; Professional and Trades Directory; The original district map.

The map has been scanned as two overlapping tiles which have subsequently been stitched together. Both scans plus the stitched version of the map have been included on the download.

Some of the scanned pages appear not to be straight. This is a feature of the original book rather than the scanning process. Some corners of earlier pages are missing but no text is affected.
